Yup... this is me! I know... not what you expected a "corporate" guy to look like, but while times & looks have changed, my focus, drive & determination have not.
A Yeshiva University grad in '93 (though, I really finished in '92), I spent time working for the TJ Martell Foundation / SONY Music, the music industry's then leading foundation for Leukemia, Cancer & AIDS research, later making the move to Columbia Records, after a 3-year diversion into the consumer software & video gaming industry.
It was right around the dot-com boom & “bust” of the late nineties into the early two thousands, I made my move into wireless, when most of my colleagues went to work for & got stranded by web companies that only looked good on paper. Shifting gears from the entertainment industry, my new focus was on bringing Forbes & Business Week into the space. They were among the first wireless data applications to launch internationally on JAVA & BREW platforms supported by Verizon & Nextel in the US & Orange Telecom in Asia.
At that time however, with terrestrial internet access in the US being far more evolved & robust than in Europe & Asia, I turned my focus in ’03 to the possibilities of the unification of landline & wireless voice, video & data services – as fiber optics were seeing huge advancements, along with 3G & 4G wireless, I joined RCN, a regional US-based triple play telecom player. The next 8 years with RCN, gave me the opportunity to work on the most diverse projects of my career, including B2C & B2B marketing, product development, technology, sales & operations. Over my tenure, the company was a privately held, went public & was taken private again after being acquired by Patriot Media in 2010, culminating in “forced” departure of most of our organization’s senior management… including me! (Footnote: At RCN I think I experienced more in 8 years than most see in an entire career!)
After a brief vacation, it was on to Genie Energy, an end-to end energy supply & services company. Here, I continue my focus on marketing, sales support, sales, product development & operations. We procure & market electric & natural gas supply to residential & commercial customers; engineer & deploy rooftop solar installations for commercial customers; fund, build & subscribe community solar farms; & broker supply to small, medium & large commercial & industrial customers.
In my “free” time, I enjoy spending time with family the most, but can be persuaded to take my heavily modified & lifted Jeep Rubicon off-roading, or to the shores of Long Island to surf. I am a proud member of the Hashevaynu family & a board member & volunteer for the Queens Borough Safety Patrol, QPSP Shmira.
